Installation Instructions

Read all instructions.
Follow all warnings on the products.
For your safety, do not use this or any electrical product near water (unless specifically designed for wet areas).
Do not install wiring during thunder and lightning storms.
Use caution when handling or installing any computer, telephone, video, or electrical devices.

Cat 6/5e/3 XTerm Jack Termination

  • After installing the mounting box or bracket, feed the 4-pair UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cable through the wall opening.
  • Strip off approximately 2" of the cable jacket, using the appropriate cable stripping tool.
  • Separate the pairs according to color (Blue/Blue-White,Orange/Orange-White, Green/Green-White, and Brown/Brown-White).
  • To terminate (see fig. 1 and fig. 2), place each wire into the insulation displacement contacts (IDC), by matching theapplicable colors on the jack. (Either 568A or 568B)

    TIP: We recommend untwisting the pairs no more than ½" from termination point.
  • Set the jack on a firm, stable surface. Using the EZ Tool (included), press the wires down into the contacts and trim off any excess.
    If using a 110-type punch down tool (UNICOM P/N TLP-P110), place the tool over each wire with the cutting blade facing outside of the IDC and punch down firmly. (See fig. 2)
    Repeat this process with each pair.

    Note: Avoid pinching or twisting the cable. We recommend at least a 1" bend radius or more. To achieve the best performance,
    make sure the cable is compatible with the module.

Cat 5e/3 SpeedCap Termination

  • After installing the mounting box or bracket, feed the 4-pair UTP(Unshielded Twisted Pair) cable through the wall opening.
  • Strip off approximately 2" of the cable jacket, using the appropriate cable stripping tool.
  • Separate the pairs according to color (Blue/Blue-White, Orange/Orange-White, Green/Green-White, and Brown/Brown-White).
  • Position the Category 5e wires into the proper channels on the modular jack according to the color-coded wiring scheme labeled on the module cap (see fig. 1)

    TIP: We recommend untwisting the pairs no more than ½" from termination point.
  • Firmly press cap onto module until cap snaps into place. (see fig. 2)TIP: To ensure a secure termination, you may use pliers.

Patch Cord Installation

  • No special tools are needed to install the Patch Cord.
  • Insert plug into outlet jack until it snaps securely (see fig. 1).

Installation of Module into Faceplate

  • Determine the location for mounting the MIO+ faceplate.
  • Attach the moduleconnector to the cables by following the instructions for the module connector.
  • Insert module connector from the rear of the faceplate (see Note 1) with the locking tab facing up.
  • Position the module at a 45° angle inserting the lower edge first, then press firmly inwards until the top tab snaps securely into place.

    TIP: Fill any unused outlet port with port fillers for safety and finished appearance.

    TIP: To remove a module, press down on the locking tab using a small screwdriver and remove the module.
  • Mount the faceplate to a standard electrical box or low-voltage wall bracket with the hardware provided. Apply labels and/or
    clear screw covers, if applicable.

    Note 1: When installing modules in an MIO+ Angled Standard faceplate or Flex-Link faceplate the locking tab must be facing down.

F-Type Connector Installation

  • Feed to coaxial cable through the wall opening.
  • Attach the coax connector by following the manufacturer instruction.
  • From the back, place the coax connector on the threaded barrel of the F-Type Connector.
  • Holding the F-Type Connector, turn the coax connector clock wise until firmly snugged
